A Romanian women's dance with brisk small steps so it is lively but not exhausting.

This was one of the dances Sally rearranged for the performance at Ipswich Balkan Blues event when our social Balkan dancing group were told at short notice that we were scheduled as performers, not as audience as we had thought. With little time for rehearsals she had to adapt social dances we had been doing into performance dances. To make it look less repetitive, this one was done with the first time through in couples, the second in a line & the third without holding.

For performance it needs shoes which make audible stamps.

Style: Feet do not rise much off the ground. Straight backed upright stance. Brisk small stepping in Parts A & B.

Wait through 16 bars of music as introduction. Start when the singing resumes after a short break.

Part A

Summary: R Triple Step & stamp. Ditto L.

Start Facing acw around circle. V-hold.
1 R small low flat step forwards. Start leaning slightly to the L by the step being slightly to the R whilst keeping the upper body moving straight forwards R. This lean increases smoothly over the bar.
2 L close likewise.
3 R forwards likewise.
4 Stamp L close to R without weight transfer. As it immediately moves on this stamp is almost a brush.
2 Repeat bar 1 on opposite feet with the progressive lean in the opposite direction (L forwards, R close, L forwards & R stamp with R lean).

Part B

Summary: Side, close & stamp travelling R twice. Ditto with 3 side-closes.

Start Facing the centre of the circle. V-hold. No lean.
1 R small low flat step to the side.
2 L close.
3 Stamp in place without weight transfer.
4 Pause.
2 Repeat bar 1. (R side, L close & R stamp).
1-2 Repeat bar 1 counts 1-2 (R side & L close).
3-4 Repeat bar 1 counts 1-2 (R side & L close).
4 Repeat bar 1. (R side, L close & R stamp).

Part C

Summary: Walk in 3 steps & touch, ditto out.

Start Facing the centre of the circle. W-hold. No lean.
Feet R forwards.
Hands Bounce in normal Romanian style (move in a fist-size circle up, forwards, down & backwards without wrist flexing).
3-4 L forwards with hand bounce.
1-2 R forwards with hand bounce.
3-4 L close without weight transfer but with hand bounce.
3-4 Repeat bars 1-2 but on opposite feet and travelling out backwards. (L backwards, R backwards, L backwards & R close with hand bounces).
