Disclaimer: Mistakes are quite likely in the notes and no guarantees are made as to accuracy. There may be other versions of the same dance or other dances with the same name. Music may differ, particularly in speed, introduction and duration, between performers. The division into parts, bars & counts might not be standard. These notes of the dance are freely distributable (under GPL or CC-by-sa) in so much as the note's author's contribution but the choreography and/or collection were by other people and so their copyright might apply to the dance itself. Better than using notes, go to a dance class where it is taught.

To modern Berber music. Named after goats that climb argan trees.

The whole dance is danced slow-slow-quick-quick-slow ("slow-slow-quick-quick-quick" in Kevin's terminology).

A minor complication is that the music deviates in verse length in 2 places. The 1st verse is 1 bar shorter & so needs a fudge (which I have called Part B1). The instrumental in the 5th verse is 4 bars longer, which is neatly fitted by doing Part B twice there.

As the music is about 5 min long, it is sometimes edited down & done so in different ways. The 3 min edit on Kevin's YouTube tutorial has the verse with the instrumental and all but one of the following ones removed then part of the instrumental used as coda. He also added a goat bleat to fittingly signify the last verse.

My own 3½ min edit keeps the instrumental in place but removes all but 1 of the subsequent 4 verses. I also add an extra bar into the first verse so as to avoid having to teach the Part B1 variation.

Summary: Start when singing starts. Miss out Part B side to side.

Start with the melody. The first phrase of music is 2 bars shorter so miss out Part bars 2 & 3 (the side, side across behind, side, close, side both ways section).

Part A

Summary: All ssqqs. Forwards acw around the circle 10 steps starting R. R & L backwards, back Yeminite. Mirror all.

Start Facing acw around the circle. V-hold. Weight on L foot.
1 R forwards.
2 L forwards.
3 R forwards.
& L forwards.
4 R forwards.
2 Repeat bar 1 on opposite feet (forwards L, R, L, R, L ssqqs).
1 R back.
2 L back.
3 R back.
& L close.
4 R forwards. (Counts 3-4 comprise a back Yemenite).
4-6 Swivel 180 acw keeping feet in place immediately into mirroring bars 1-3 (cw around the circle starting L ft ssqqs, ditto on opposite feet, L & R back, L back Yemenite).

The going cw in bars 4-6 was later improvement, his original choreography had that going acw like bars 1-3 (albeit on opposite feet).

Part B

Summary: All ssqqs. Forwards in 5 steps starting R. (L side, R across behind, L side, R close, L side. Mirror.) Back out 5 steps.

Start Facing the centre of the the circle. V-hold. Weight on L foot.
1 As Part A bar 1 (5 steps forwards ssqqs starting R ft) but travelling in towards the centre of the circle.
1 L to the side.
2 R across behind.
3 L to the side.
& R close.
4 L to the side.
3 Repeat bar 2 in mirror image. (R side, L across behind, R side, L close, R side.)
4 Repeat bar 1 but backing out & on opposite feet (5 steps backwards ssqqs starting L ft).

Part B1

Summary: Part B but omit the side to side bars. Add (R side, L close) x 2

This is the 1 bar shorter version for the 1st time through. It has the only bar which is not ssqqs.

1 As Part B bar 1 (5 steps forwards ssqqs starting R ft).
2 As Part B bar 4 (5 steps backwards ssqqs starting L ft).
1 R to the side.
2 L close.
3-4 Repeat counts 1-2 (R to the side, L close).
