Disclaimer:
Mistakes are quite likely in the notes and no guarantees are made as to accuracy. There may be other versions of the same dance or other dances with the same name. Music may differ, particularly in speed, introduction and duration, between performers. The division into parts, bars & counts might not be standard. These notes of the dance are freely distributable (under GPL or CC-by-sa) in so much as the note's author's contribution but the choreography and/or collection were by other people and so their copyright might apply to the dance itself. Better than using notes, go to a dance class where it is taught by Tineke van Geel.
An Armenian dance which has a distinctive combination of typical hand movements & fitting music. Feels gentle although there is quite a bit of movement, of the arms in particular. The leader has to remember the number of repeats in some parts but it is fairly easy for others to follow.
The musically is officially 6 beats per bar (ONE two three Four five six) but I find that a lot of distracting fast counting for a rather serene dance & most of the steps are half a bar long so I count it as 2 counts per bar (ONE two). The only slight catch with that is the sublety that the Triple steps divide the first beat long-short (ONE-& a two) rather than evenly.
Style: Gentle & smooth feeling but with moderate travelling speed (normal size walking steps not very small ones) & the arms need to move moderately fast to get between the positions. The W-hold base position has elbows about 10 cm out from the sides & about 10 cm infront of where they would be if the upper arms were vertically down, the forearms straight forwards about 30 deg above horizontal and the wrists bent backwards so palms face forwards and fingers point up.
