Music may differ, particularly in speed, introduction and duration, between performers. The division into parts, bars & counts might not be standard. A dance that is like Šetnja with additions, done to nice rousing music.

The phrasing of the music is complex with instrument parts of 4 & 8 bars and vocal parts of 8, 10 &/or 14 bars depending on how one considers the phrase ends when there is a 2 bar coda appended to what feels like a verse or the women's phrase starts overlapping the end of the men's phrase. However that does not matter. The dance maintains the same length sequence and fits the bar structure (which is a lot simpler).

He taught two variations to Part B, one nominally for women & one nominally for men. However dancers did them interchangeably as they liked. Essentially they are a plain version (Reeder steps) and an ornamented version (stamping Grapevine steps).

Style: Upright, stiff backed, proud. Relaxed natural bounce with the stepping.

Introduction

Summary: 4 bars.

The dance starts with the singing which is after 4 bars of instrumental music.

Part A

Summary: Šetnja (slow, slow, quick, quick, slow in R starting R foot, ditto backing out starting L foot).

Start Facing 45 deg cw of the direction to the centre of the circle. Weight on L foot.
1
1-2 R walk forwards.
3-4 L walk forwards.
2
1 R walk forwards.
2 L walk forwards.
3-4 R walk forwards turning to face the centre of the circle.
3
1-2 L walk backwards.
3-4 R walk backwards.
4
1 L walk backwards.
2 R walk backwards.
3-4 L in place.

This part if done as the whole dance sequence is equivalent to the well known called 'Šetnja' (pronounced 'Shetnia' & spelt 'Setnya' in English).

Part B (Women's Version)

Summary: Reeder Step L x 3.5. Mirror.

Start Facing the centre of the circle. Weight on L foot.
1
1 R across infront.
2 L to the side. (Combined with the previous step this comprises a Reeder step.)
3-4 Repeat counts 1-2 (R across infront, L to the side).
2
1-3 Repeat bar 1 counts 1-3 (making 3.5 Reeders in total, i.e. R across & L to the side 3 times then one more R across infront).
4 Pause commencing bringing the L foot round ready to step across infront with it at the start of the next bar.
3-4 Repeat bars 1-2 in mirror image (L across infront & R to the side 3.5 times).

Part B (Men's Version)

Summary: Grapevine L starting R across infront with stamps when crossing infront x 1.75. Mirror.

Start Facing the centre of the circle. Weight on L foot.
1
1 R across infront with a flat footed stamp.
2 L to the side.
3 R across behind.
4 L to the side. (Combined with the previous 3 steps this comprises Grapevine with a stamp.)
2
1-3 Repeat counts 1-3 (R stamp across infront, L to the side, R across behind).
4 Pause commencing bringing the L foot round ready to step across infront with it at the start of the next bar.
3-4 Repeat bars 1-2 in mirror image (Grapevine to the R 1.75 times starting with L across infront with stamps on L across infront steps) but without commencing to bring the R round infront at the end as the following step will be to the side not across.

Part C

Summary: R side, close, side, lift to the R. Mirror.

Start Facing the centre of the circle. Weight on L foot.
1
1 R step to the side flat footed.
2 L close likewise.
3 Repeat count 1 (R to the side).
4 Lift close L to beside R calf with foot angled about 45 deg down (it feels like a relaxed lift in that the body naturally falls into the next step & changes direction with less effort than if one had just paused).
2 Repeat bar 1 in L-R mirror image (L to the side, R close, L to the side, pause) but without commencing to bring the R round infront at the end as the following step will be to the side not across.
